Corona illustrates the urgency of digitization!

In Germany we have been talking about digital transformation, digital leadership, digital disruption for many years. Numerous people give lectures and companies start more or less half-hearted attempts at digitization. In many cases, digitization in companies was and is a side task. At the latest, the Corona Virus shows us that digitization cannot be a side task – it has to become the main task and a strategic component of any corporate planning!

For example, if we had taken care of virtual classrooms in schools in good time, high school graduates would not have to fear that they would not be able to graduate in time. Ok, there are already virtual classrooms. However, the current situation shows that schools will be closed from March 16, 2020 and that students will NOT be able to attend school in virtual classrooms because the concept has not yet been thought through. Yes, the concept was not thought through to the end! In the past there have been many projects on the subject of “virtual classrooms”. The projects were started and implemented. But then things like that happen that the classroom breaks down after a few minutes due to (probably server problems), as it has just happened in Bavaria. The state of Bavaria uses the Mebis system and now, in times of the Corona Virus, wanted to implement training using this system. But after a short time, this collapsed. [1] Q2i, LinkedIn. There were too many students who asked for their passwords again, because they hadn’t used this platform for a long time. Well, and finally the system collapsed. Say: The system was not thought through to the end (that’s my own opinion on it) and was not really prepared for use.

Trade fairs are canceled. Here too, digitization has been completely missed. You have stuck to the tried and tested for years and are now very likely to be out.

Home office workplaces are already standard in other countries. In Germany, such jobs are rather an exception. A large part of the office workplaces could long ago be done in the home office if there was trust in the employees and the corresponding technology. Instead, we let the Corona Virus wipe us out and are now almost powerless and also without ideas. Unfortunately.

TRANSRUPTION® shows us ALL important strategic digitization fields. Digitization can only be successful if all fields are observed. It is becoming increasingly clear that many companies have not understood the systemic view of digitization. Digitization is not just ONE topic. NO. Digitization is a collective term for at least 24 strategic digital key technologies to be observed! These 24 key technologies were brought together by Sanjay Sauldie in his thesis at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in a “tool box” and he makes them available for companies. A company must be aware that digitization contains more than just one topic.
