AI Policy (Glossary)

The term AI policy is particularly at home in the categories of artificial intelligence, digital society and digital transformation. AI policy describes the rules, laws and guidelines according to which artificial intelligence (AI) should be developed, deployed and utilised.

An AI policy ensures that the use of AI is fair, safe and transparent. For example, it defines how personal data is protected, who is liable for damage caused by AI systems and how discrimination by algorithms can be avoided.

An illustrative example: A company wants to use an AI in customer service that automatically replies to messages. The company's AI policy stipulates that customer data must be stored securely and that the AI must not give any offensive answers. This ensures that customers can trust the new technology and that it is used responsibly.

An AI policy is important because it helps to minimise risks and comply with ethical standards. Especially in times when AI is influencing more and more areas of life, a clear AI policy provides orientation and security - for companies, employees and customers.
