If you sometimes feel like you're online almost all the time, we have good news for you: you're not alone. According to a recent Pew Research survey one in four American adults say they are online almost all the time, while a further 43 per cent say they are online several times a day.
Teens seem to be having an even harder time disconnecting, with nearly half of American teens between the ages of 13 and 17 saying they are constantly online. The main reason for this trend is the ubiquity of smartphones, which 95 % of teens say they have access to. Compared to a similar survey conducted four years ago, the percentage of teens who are constantly online has nearly doubled, suggesting that young people's digital lives are demanding more and more attention and threatening to crowd out real, face-to-face interactions.
