AR Cloud (Glossary)

The AR cloud is particularly at home in the areas of virtual and augmented reality, digital transformation and the Internet of Things. It describes a digital network that connects real environments with digital content.

Imagine holding your smartphone up to a place of interest and additional information, photos from the past or even animated figures appear on the screen. All of this is possible because the AR cloud stores data about places, objects and people in a kind of digital twin of the real world and makes it accessible for various devices - similar to a map, only supplemented by virtual elements.

The special thing about the AR cloud is that the digital information is visible to all users at a specific location. For example, you visit a furniture store. Thanks to the AR cloud, you can use your smartphone to see what a new sofa would look like in your home, even though it is not actually there.

The AR cloud thus enables innovative applications in education, tourism, retail and many other sectors. It is an important building block for the future, in which the digital and real worlds are growing ever closer together.
