Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is primarily part of the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and digital society.
AGI describes a form of artificial intelligence that thinks, learns and solves problems in a very similar way to humans. In contrast to today's AI systems, which are specialised in certain tasks, an Artificial General Intelligence could understand practically any problem and develop solutions independently, regardless of the field.
Imagine, for example, having a digital assistant that not only sorts emails, but can also write a book, drive a car or make medical diagnoses - all at a human level, without any special reprogramming.
AGI would therefore be a real milestone in the digital transformation, as it could fundamentally change many professions and areas of life. To date, however, Artificial General Intelligence only exists as a research goal; current AI systems, such as chatbots or translation programmes, are still a long way from achieving these capabilities. Nevertheless, the topic is already generating a lot of discussion and questions about its impact on society and the economy.
