Trust makes you strong - A story from the Neflental valley

The story begins on a special night in the Neflental valley. It is a frosty night and the snow-covered forest lies quietly there. The bare branches of the trees are decorated with glistening hoar frost. Snowflakes dance through the air and each one glows as if it carries a small memento. A bright full moon stands over the valley and stars twinkle so brightly that even the snow-covered mountains show their silhouettes. From far down in the valley, a soft, fairytale-like ringing of bells can be heard.

In the middle of this magical night, Rosa Periwinkle sets off. She wants to visit an important friend: the owl family that has been watching over her gnarled tree stump at the edge of the forest for many generations. Their home is called Eulenwarte. Many animals from all over the Neflental admire the owls because they are considered to be very wise and courageous.

The path through the frosty night in the Neflental valley

Pink periwinkle trudges bravely through the silver-white snow. The crystal lake glistens in the distance. Smoky grey shadows flit across the white field, and the stars appear even brighter in the midnight blue of the sky. Rosa hears the bells ringing and takes a deep breath of the cold, clear air. In the Neflental valley, some paths feel particularly long on such an icy night. But Rosa takes one courageous step after another, because trust makes you strong.

Sometimes something rustles in the ferns or the snow crunches softly under her feet. But Rosa knows that if she relies on her heart and her friendship with the animals of the Neflen valley, she need have no fear. Trust makes you strong, she thinks again and again, and so she becomes braver with every passing minute. She reaches the Eulenwarte while the ringing of the bells still rings lightly through the clear night.

Eulenwarte: Where advice and courage live

The owls have gathered around the old tree stump. Their feathers appear silver in the frosty night. Rosa greets them in a friendly manner and explains why she has come. Lately, she sometimes feels unsafe when she is out and about in the dark. She asks the owls how to become brave and self-confident.

The oldest owl answers in a gentle voice: "Courage doesn't come from people not fearing anything. Courage grows when you go into the unknown and go on anyway." Another owl whispers: "Trust that you are never alone. Friends will help you if you need them. And you can always trust in yourself."

Rosa listens and realises that courage and trust are like two strong wings. The owls' words give her security. She knows that nobody is really alone in Neflental because everyone helps each other. Her self-confidence also grows. The snowflakes around her sparkle and reflect the light of her new courage.

The return through the snow-covered forest

Strengthened and full of new vigour, Rosa Immergrün sets off on her way home. The owls accompany her for a while with their understanding glances. Rosa takes the feeling from the silver-white splendour of the Neflen valley with her: Trust makes you strong and helps you to become brave. She feels her heart beating faster, not with fear this time, but with joy and a thirst for adventure.

On the way back, Rosa notices that the world seems even brighter. The bare branches glitter as if adorned with diamonds. The soft blue of the night sky accompanies her. Again and again she thinks of the owls and the words from the owlery. You are stronger than uncertainty. Trust makes you strong in Neflental!

What do we learn from this?

Even if the path seems cold and dark, you can be courageous if you trust. Trust makes you strong and gives you courage for new adventures. In the Neflental valley, the magical thing is that nobody has to go their own way. You will experience how courage and friendship always belong together. And anyone who has ever been out on a frosty night knows that trust makes the stars shine brighter.
