Change Management (Glossary)

Change management is particularly at home in the areas of digital transformation, HR work and teams as well as Industry and Factory 4.0. The term describes all measures and processes that companies use to plan, implement and support change in a targeted manner. The aim of change management is to implement adaptations to new technologies, working methods or market requirements as smoothly and successfully as possible.

A typical example: a medium-sized company decides to modernise its production with the help of new, digital machines. The employees have to use new software, familiarise themselves with modern systems and change their usual processes. In this case, change management ensures that everyone involved is informed and trained about the changes at an early stage. Questions and concerns are taken seriously and the team receives support in order to navigate the change with confidence and motivation.

Successful change management helps to minimise resistance and ensures that change is seen as an opportunity rather than a threat. Especially in an increasingly digitalised world, change management is a crucial component in making companies fit for the future.
