Click & Collect is at home in eCommerce and digital retail, digital marketplaces and digital transformation. The term describes a shopping method where customers can order goods online and pick them up later in a shop or at a pick-up point. Click & Collect thus combines the advantages of online shopping with the flexibility of bricks-and-mortar retail.
The principle is very simple: customers search for and pay for their desired products online - for example on the website of an electronics retailer. During the ordering process, they select Click & Collect as the shipping method and choose a shop near them. They can usually pick up their order there a short time later - often on the same day.
An illustrative example: You order a new drill online from a DIY store. Instead of waiting for delivery, you simply drive to the shop around the corner and pick up the product straight away - without shipping costs and long waiting times.
Click & Collect therefore offers flexibility, fast availability and saves time. This option is particularly popular when something is urgently needed or you want to avoid the shipping costs.
