Show moral courage in the Neflental: how to become a real everyday hero!
The sun is shining particularly warmly in the Neflental valley on this day. It is a glorious high, the most beautiful time of the year. The fields are glowing in the gold colour of the sun and the water in the rivers is a sapphire blue. Pink periwinkle stands at the edge of the Bernblütenhain. Here it smells of honey and fresh summer rain.
Many children and young people celebrate on the shore of the small lake. Lanterns float in the sky, the light glistens on the water. Colours such as coral red and emerald green dance across the grass. Cheerful laughter and music fill the air.
A problem in paradise
Suddenly Rosa Periwinkle hears voices getting louder. She sees a little Flossian boy sitting at the edge of the party. Two older children make jokes about his bluish skin and his unusual clothes. The others laugh, although the boy has stopped laughing. His shoulders slump and he wants to disappear.
Rosa Periwinkle observes this. She feels uneasy inside. She knows that now is the time to show moral courage. She could simply look the other way. But that doesn't feel right.
Be brave - even when it's hard
Rosa Periwinkle takes a deep breath. She goes straight to the two older children. Her voice is calm but firm. She says: "Stop it. Everyone in Neflental is important and unique. It's no fun being laughed at."
The other children look surprised at first. They don't know what to say. One girl mumbles: "That's not what I meant." But Rosa Immergrün remains friendly. "Words can hurt," she says, "let's celebrate together, nobody should feel excluded."
Slowly, there are pauses between the voices. Someone shakes hands with the Flossian boy. Another asks if he would like to play along. The boy smiles timidly. The atmosphere becomes brighter, almost as if the colours around them have become even more vibrant.
The festival in the Bernblütenhain
Later in the evening, they sit together around the campfire. The scent of golden flowers mingles with the smoke. Stories are told, lanterns are reflected in the lake. Rosa Periwinkle realises how important it is to show courage. You don't need magic to be an everyday hero. Sometimes a simple word is enough to make someone no longer feel alone.
And so the Neflental shines a little brighter at the height of its splendour. Many people think back to it in the evening. They now know that civil courage makes the valley strong and friendly. And that everyone, including you, can be a hero - not just on festive days, but every day.
What do we learn from this?
Those who stick together, help and respect each other make life more beautiful. Sometimes it takes courage to stand up for others. But if we help even just one person, we make the world a little bit better. Civil courage means not looking away, but standing up in a friendly and clear manner. Everyone can learn this, a little more every day.
