Civil courage in the Neflental: a courageous story

The glorious high begins in the Neflental valley. The sun shines brightly and bathes everything in golden light. Many residents gather on the large summer plateau. Cheerful groups sit around small campfires all along the riverbank. Lanterns float softly in the warm air. The colours are radiant: Sun gold, sapphire blue, coral red and emerald green shine everywhere. Everyone is looking forward to a big party.

Pink evergreen discovers the ice rose garden

At the edge of the plateau is the mysterious ice rose garden. Rose blossoms grow in it that look as if they have been moulded from glass. A layer of ice covers each blossom. Many people think they cannot touch the flowers because they are too fragile. But Rosa Periwinkle observes how children carefully sneak around the roses.

Suddenly there is a shout. Someone is calling for help. Rosa Periwinkle quickly runs to the voice. She sees a little boy slipping in the ice rose garden. He is lying on the ground. The other children just watch. They seem insecure because they are afraid that the delicate layers of ice might break.

Helping, even when you're afraid

Rosa Periwinkle runs faster. Without hesitation, she jumps between the icy roses. The blossoms tinkle, but Rosa does not flinch. She calls out to the children that they shouldn't be afraid. Together they can help! So two more children venture into the glittering ice rose garden. Together they help the boy to get back on his feet. He laughs with relief. Nothing is broken, neither ice nor courage.

The group's joy grows. They realise that they are strong together. The helpers fetch warm blankets from the campfire. Someone hands the boy a glass of water. The younger ones talk about how proud they are of Rosa Periwinkle. They are happy about how they helped despite their fear. Everyone realises how important it is not to simply stand by and watch, but to courageously intervene.

Glanzhoch - The warmth of courage and friendship

Not only flowers, but also brave hearts are now shining in the light of the shining high. The sun shines even more warmly, as if it takes pleasure in the way the residents stick together. On the glistening riverbank, the children continue to tell their story. They explain to the grown-ups how proud they are of their courage.

From that day onwards, more residents in Neflental dared to help others. They realise that civil courage means not looking away. It is important to be courageous, even when you are afraid. Rosa Immergrün reminds everyone of this. Throughout the valley, they tell the story of the Eisrosengarten and the small group that showed how powerful help can be.

What do we learn from this?

When someone is in need, we should not wait. It is courageous to help, even if we are afraid. Sometimes a small step is enough. Together we are much stronger. Those who help others bring light into everyone's lives. Civil courage grows when we trust and support each other. In the Neflental, every day shows how beautiful courage can be.
