Cyber-physical security is particularly important in the areas of Industry and Factory 4.0, automation and the Internet of Things. This is where digital systems merge with physical devices - for example, when machines in a factory are controlled via the internet.

Cyber-physical security describes the protection of such systems against attacks, errors or manipulation. After all, if a machine is hacked, this can jeopardise not only data, but also people and production. So it's not just about computers, but also about real systems, vehicles or even entire production lines.

An illustrative example: In a modern car factory, robotic arms are connected online and carry out assembly work. If the control system of such a robot is hacked from outside, it could cause chaos or even trigger an accident. Cyber-physical security ensures that such attacks are fended off and production continues to run safely.

With increasing networking, cyber-physical security is becoming ever more important in order to prevent both digital and physical damage and to ensure that technology and people are protected.
