Humility in the Neflental valley: glamour high at the crystal lake
In the Neflental valley, the day begins at the height of the glow. The sun gently caresses the fern meadows and makes crystal rivers shimmer in gold and amber. On this particular morning, Rosa Immergrün walks along a narrow path to the bay of water lilies, a quiet offshoot of the crystal lake. The large, round leaves float calmly on the water. Delicate white flowers open their crowns to the sun, while colourful fish flit back and forth under the surface of the water. Iridescent dragonflies dance in the warm air and build short rainbows out of light and colour.
The inhabitants of the Neflen Valley meet on the shores of Water Lily Bay. Today is the glamour festival. Everyone is celebrating the sun, the water and the colourful lanterns that will later float silently over the lake. Delicious treats await on the benches and the music plays merrily across the water. Rosa Periwinkle is already looking forward to the water polo game that is about to begin.
Why humility is important at the Bay of Water Lilies
The competition at the crystal lake begins. Everyone wants to win and many spectators cheer on their friends. Rosa Immergrün also wants to show how well she can jump and catch today. Because yesterday she practised for a long time in the fern forest. But the first time she tries to catch the colourful ball, it slips through her fingers and plops into the water with a splash. The others giggle quietly and Rosa Periwinkle feels her cheeks heat up. She is a little annoyed, but she doesn't give up.
She manages a great jump in the next round. The crowd cheers. But then Rosa Periwinkle sees a friend slip and fall into the water. Rosa Periwinkle runs straight to her, helps her up and asks: "Are you OK?" She gives her a smile and everyone sees how friendly she is. The others clap and nod. Even though Rosa Periwinkle loses another ball shortly afterwards, she is happy. What matters to her now is more than winning - she is happy that she was able to help.
Celebrating together at a glittering high
In the evening, everyone sits around the campfire. The shore of Water Lily Bay is bathed in emerald green, sapphire blue and coral red. The dancing lights are reflected on the small waves. Rosa Periwinkle and her friends tell each other funny stories and nibble on fragrant herb biscuits. Suddenly someone shouts: "Let's put up some lanterns!"
Rosa Periwinkle makes a lantern out of colourful leaves together with the others. She helps the younger children without showing how skilful she already is. She realises that it's not about being the best, but about being friendly and helpful to each other. As the lanterns rise in the twilight, everyone feels connected. Every light in the sky is a reminder that true strength is shown in humility and modesty.
What do we learn from this?
In Neflental, there are many opportunities to make a strong impression. But those who remain humble and modest like Rosa Immergrün make real friends and experience more joy. You don't always have to be the best. Because when you help others, your heart grows and everyone celebrates with you. In the end, the light of the lanterns shines on everyone and everyone realises: humility is really cool!
