Distributed AI is at home in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Industry and Factory 4.0 as well as Digital Transformation.
Distributed AI means that artificial intelligence (AI) works not just in one place, but in a decentralised manner on several computers or devices. These devices are connected to each other via a network and exchange information in order to solve problems or work on tasks together.
A simple example: In a modern factory, many machines control production at the same time. Instead of using a single control centre for all decisions, each machine has its own small AI that performs its tasks independently. The AIs exchange information and coordinate with each other to ensure that the entire production process runs smoothly. As a result, errors can be recognised and rectified more quickly and the entire process can be made more flexible.
Distributed AI therefore helps companies to make processes more efficient and react more quickly to changes. It is suitable wherever many individual devices or locations need to act "intelligently" together, such as in a networked vehicle fleet, smart grids in energy supply or automated warehouses.
