The term "energy-efficient AI training" belongs to the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Industry and Factory 4.0 as well as Sustainability and Environment 4.0. It describes methods with which the training of artificial intelligence, i.e. the "learning" of computers, consumes as little electricity and resources as possible.
In normal AI training, huge amounts of data are often processed, which requires a lot of electricity. This is expensive and has a negative impact on the environment. Energy-efficient AI training focuses on making this process leaner. This can mean, for example, using better algorithms that learn faster and therefore require less computing power, or using greener energy sources.
An illustrative example: a company wants to develop an AI that recognises production errors. Instead of running thousands of hours of data on expensive servers, a method is chosen that uses less data and reduces energy consumption. In this way, the company not only saves costs, but also does something for the environment. Energy-efficient AI training therefore combines modern technology with sustainable business practices.
