Curiosity in Neflental: the adventure begins
In the Neflental valley, it is the most glorious time of the year. The sun is high in the sky and sends its golden rays far over the mountains. Rivers glisten, small lakes sparkle and the whole valley seems enchanted. Everywhere people are celebrating, wearing colourful clothes and sitting on the banks around crackling campfires. Lanterns float slowly in the warm twilight. Everything seems festive and mysterious at the same time.
The Bernblütenhain and a special question
In the middle of this cheerful time, the gentle rustling in the Bernblütenhain attracts many. Beautiful golden-yellow flowers grow in this grove, which smell of honey and summer rain. Children and young people often put their blankets down there to dream, talk or listen.
One sunny afternoon, Rosa Immergrün decides to explore the Bernblütenhain. Why do the flowers there smell so special? And why do they glow when the first lanterns rise into the air in the evening? Rosa is keen to find out. She quietly makes her way through the tall grass.
Every question is an adventure
Rosa's curiosity leads her straight into the adventure. She first observes a group of Flossians moored on quiet boats. The Flossians give her a friendly wave and invite her to splash around in the water, but she sticks to her question.
This is how she reaches the edge of the Bernblütenhain. Here, golden petals dance on a light breeze. Their sweet fragrance casts a spell over everyone. Rosa discovers an old Buchian sitting under a blossom tree.
She plucks up all her courage and goes to him. "Why does it smell so strongly of honey here?" she asks curiously.
Find answers and ask further questions
The Buchian laughs softly. "The golden blossoms only give their scent to those who are really curious," he replies. "But you know, the secret isn't in the pollen, it's here in the glow high, when moonlight and lantern light hit the flowers."
Rosa says thank you and takes a closer look. She recognises small crystal drops on the flowers. They sparkle like amber and sapphires in the sunlight. She asks herself: "How did these drops get on the flowers?"
She quickly searches for answers. She examines a flower, then another. A Flossian helps her look. Together they discover that tiny, invisible beetles bring the water to the flowers when they dance at night!
Curiosity sheds light on the Neflental
This news spreads quickly among the revellers by the river. Some children come with small lanterns and begin to watch the nightly spectacle. Together they marvel at the wonder of the dancing beetles and the shining amber blossoms.
Rosa asks again: "How do the beetles always find their way home?" Nobody knows the answer yet. But curiosity is aroused and brings the friends together. They decide to keep looking for answers every glamour night.
What do we learn from this?
The adventure in the Neflental begins with a small question and goes on and on. Curiosity makes life colourful and exciting. Every answer brings new questions. And searching for secrets together is even more fun.
