Generative AI (Glossary)

Generative AI is a term from the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and automation. It describes programmes and machines that are able to independently create new content such as text, images, music or even entire videos. Unlike traditional computer programmes, which only do exactly what they are told to do, generative AI can generate creative results from existing data.

A well-known example of generative AI is a text generator that automatically writes a complete article based on a few keywords. Chatbots that respond independently to customer enquiries or image generators that create a realistic image from a simple description are also part of this technology.

Generative AI offers companies many opportunities, for example in the creation of product descriptions in online retail or in customer service correspondence. It can also help to produce appealing content quickly and easily in the area of marketing. Generative AI therefore saves time and opens up completely new ways of creating digital content.
