Human-centred AI (Glossary)

Human-centred AI is particularly at home in the areas of artificial intelligence, digital society and HR work and teams. The term means that artificial intelligence (AI) is developed in such a way that people take centre stage. The focus is not just on what computers can do, but on how AI can support people and respect their needs.

Instead of pursuing pure efficiency or automation, human-centred AI asks: "How can we design technologies that are understandable, useful and trustworthy for people?" In this way, humans always remain the most important authority when making decisions, not machines.

An example: A company uses AI-based software for job applications. Human-centred AI ensures that the software is free of bias and evaluates each applicant fairly. At the same time, the system transparently explains to the user why it has made a particular decision. In this way, companies benefit from modern technology without losing respect for the individual.

Human-centred AI thus creates trust and acceptance - the most important success factors for the meaningful use of artificial intelligence in everyday and professional life.
