Through life with humour: A story from the Neflental

The Neflental can sometimes seem quite serious. High mountains, deep forests and mysterious lakes make life exciting. But anyone who knows the valley well knows that laughter is an important force here. On a special day in spring, when the air already smells of new adventures, Rosa Periwinkle comes up with a crazy idea.

An afternoon at the source of gold

Rosa Periwinkle grabs her little bag of nuts and sweet berries and hops to the mysterious warm spring on the hillside. It is the golden spring. The water sparkles golden yellow in the light and the flowers on the edge shine almost like little suns. The golden spring is famous because its drops tickle the skin and make you happy.

Rosa Periwinkle thinks: "Why not make the others in the valley laugh today?" She picks a bunch of yellow flowers and makes funny hats out of them. She puts one on herself, looks at herself in the reflecting spring water and starts to giggle. She knows that almost anything can happen today!

Between dream and reality: twilight run

Just as the sun sets, the valley changes. Everything suddenly appears in purple, misty grey and rosé. In the twilight, this magical time, the trees bend like dancers in the wind. Glittering mirrors float between violet-pink wafts of mist. Each of them shows a different season: sometimes it is snowing, sometimes flowers are blooming, sometimes autumn leaves are dancing through the air.

Rosa Periwinkle discovers that her reflection is constantly changing. Sometimes she wears a winter coat, sometimes a wreath of flowers, sometimes spring butterflies dance around her. She waves to the floating figures who carry their dreams before them in the mist - each figure holding a glowing ball of light. For Rosa Periwinkle, it looks as if wishes are becoming tangible. She laughs out loud at the crazy, funny transformations and everyone who hears it has to giggle too.

The big laugh at the source

Other inhabitants from the Neflental soon arrive. They come to the warm golden spring because they have heard Rosa's laughter. The Buchians bring home-baked nuts, the Flossians splash around in the stream and cheer. Even a few Bergsteins are infected by the cheerful mood.

Rosa Periwinkle hands out the flower hats. Everyone gets a flowery headdress, even the pointed ears of the white elves disappear underneath. Everyone gazes into the reflective water, makes silly faces and blows soap bubbles. Some of the glowing dreams from the twilight run get caught up in them and make everyone marvel and laugh.

Time at Goldquell passes in a colourful whirl of happiness. No one thinks of worries or trouble. The animals of the forest scurry closer because they are curious and hear the giggling from the spring area. Rosa Periwinkle hums a funny rhyme, jumps up, whirls through the mist and lands with a happy splash in the middle of the golden water. Everyone hoots and applauds enthusiastically. People passing by automatically smile without realising why. And even the reflective trees bend a little more - almost as if they are secretly laughing along.

What do we learn from this?

In Neflental, everyone realises that everything is easier with a sense of humour. Even if life seems strange, crazy or sometimes even sad, a cheerful laugh can open hearts. Rosa Immergrün and the residents experience an unforgettable day filled with light, fog, golden water and pure joy. And sometimes a little bit of magic and a smile stays in the valley for a long time - especially when you need it most.
