The term "inspection robot" is mainly at home in the fields of Industry and Factory 4.0, automation and robots. Inspection robots are specialised machines that perform inspection and control tasks that are often too dangerous, time-consuming or inaccessible for humans.
An inspection robot can be used in a huge factory, for example, to check narrow pipework for cracks or blockages from the inside. In the past, this often required a complete shutdown of the plant and time-consuming manual labour. Today, a small robot travels through the pipes, records videos and measures important values. It transmits the data in real time to the maintenance teams, who can then intervene in a targeted manner.
These robots ensure that factories can work more safely, efficiently and with less downtime. They are also used in other areas - for example to inspect wind turbines, pipelines or even bridges. Inspection robots help companies to save costs and recognise damage at an early stage before it becomes a major problem. They have become indispensable in modern industry.
