Warehouse robots (Glossary)

(663)

The term warehouse robot belongs to the fields of automation, industry and factory 4.0 as well as robots. Warehouse robots are special machines that have been developed to move, sort or store goods in warehouses and factories. They help companies to organise their processes faster and more efficiently.

In contrast to traditional, often tedious manual labour, warehouse robots perform tasks such as picking up and transporting boxes or pallets completely automatically. This reduces errors and allows employees to concentrate on other important tasks.

An illustrative example is a large warehouse of an online shop: Warehouse robots move independently through the rows of shelves, pick out the desired products and take them to the packing stations. This means that orders can be processed much more quickly. Warehouse robots are therefore a key to modern, future-proof logistics and help to ensure that goods reach the customer more quickly.
