Low-Code / No-Code Development (Glossary)

(1068)

Low-code / no-code development is particularly at home in the areas of digital transformation, automation and HR work and teams. The term describes a modern method of creating software and apps without having to programme or write very little code. Instead, users simply utilise visual construction kits and drag-and-drop interfaces.

This means that even people without IT or programming skills can build digital applications themselves and adapt them directly to their own needs. Companies in particular benefit from this, as they can quickly digitalise processes or test new ideas without having to wait a long time for the IT department.

An illustrative example: a team in HR wants to introduce a digital holiday application. Using a low-code or no-code platform, they simply pull together prefabricated modules for forms and approval processes at the click of a mouse. Within a few hours, they have a functioning solution that would previously have taken weeks.

Low-code / no-code development makes digital innovations more accessible, saves time and money and helps companies to react more quickly to new challenges. This is an important advantage, especially in today's rapidly changing world of work.
