Prompt engineering is at home in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital transformation and automation. The term refers to the targeted creation and optimisation of input - so-called "prompts" - for AI systems such as chatbots or text generators so that they provide the most helpful and accurate answers possible.

Imagine you are using a digital assistant that summarises texts or creates images. The quality of the result depends heavily on how precisely and comprehensibly your input, i.e. your prompt, is formulated. Prompt engineering means designing these inputs in such a way that the artificial intelligence understands exactly what is required - and outputs the best result.

A simple example: You want an AI to report on the latest trends in e-commerce. Instead of just typing "e-commerce trends", you could use Prompt Engineering to improve the request: "Create a summary of the three most important e-commerce trends in 2024 with brief explanations." This way, the AI provides more targeted and useful information.

Prompt Engineering therefore makes working with AI applications easier and ensures that you as a user receive better and more comprehensible results.
