With perseverance you can do anything! - A story from the Neflental valley
There are many secret places in the Neflental valley. One of them is the maple glade. The trees there glow fiery red and orange in autumn, as if flames were dancing. Rosa Periwinkle loved walking here. But this time she had a task. She wanted to find the way to the magical Time Mirror Glade. Some say that all the seasons become visible there at once. Only those who show courage and patience can really get there.
Rosa Periwinkle packed her small rucksack and waved to the Buchians who lived at the edge of the forest. They liked to sit under the colourful branches of the maple trees and collect the most beautiful leaves. But Rosa didn't have time. She knew that the Time Mirror Glade was hard to find, so she marched off full of beans.
At first, the path led through fern meadows. The fine dewdrops glistened in the golden morning light. Rosa Immergrün still thought it would be easy! But soon the path was blocked by fallen branches and thorny bushes. "I won't turn back," she whispered, "I can do it with perseverance!" She climbed over a large stone, slipped briefly, but got up again straight away.
The difficulty grows - but so does the courage!
Lake Flossian was waiting behind the bushes. A narrow bridge made of slippery stones connected the two shores. The water was an icy blue-grey and sparkled mysteriously. Rosa Periwinkle felt her heart beating faster. "I've managed more difficult things," she said to herself. "I'll get further with perseverance!"
She balanced over the bridge with careful steps. A stone wobbled, but Rosa Periwinkle did not fall. She stretched out her arms, took a deep breath and focussed on her goal. When she reached the other bank, she laughed out loud with joy. Golden leaves slowly fell down on her and decorated her path.
Slowly, the landscape changed. Everything around Rosa Immergrün shimmered in a magical palette of colours: emerald green ferns, golden grasses, vermilion leaves and the blue-grey hills in the distance. She rubbed her eyes - had she already reached her destination?
Finally on the time mirror light
Rosa Periwinkle suddenly spotted shiny mirrors floating in the air like soap bubbles. She had arrived! Different images appeared in each mirror: A snowman, fresh flowers, rays of sunshine and colourful mountains of leaves. Rosa Periwinkle could walk from spring to autumn in a single step and even feel a few snowflakes.
She turned round in circles. Each mirror showed something new. Rosa Periwinkle was radiant. She was happy that she hadn't given up. With perseverance, she had found the time mirror light. "I made it!" she cheered, "Just because I kept going. No matter how hard it got!"
The mirrors sparkled in the blue light. A light breeze played with the vermilion leaves. Rosa Periwinkle sat down on a soft patch of moss. She remembered all the difficulties. Now she knew what perseverance was good for. It gets you further than fear or giving up quickly. And sometimes you experience the most beautiful, magical moment in the entire Neflental.
What do we learn from this?
Even if the road is long and full of obstacles, it is worth continuing. With perseverance, you can do anything - sometimes even what seems impossible. Take a leaf out of Rosa Immergrün's book. Never give up and marvel at the magic that awaits you if you keep going.
