Mindfulness in the Neflental

The day slowly awakens in the Neflental valley. Spring is showing its most beautiful side. It is blossom watch, the time when everything is fragrant and glistening. At dawn, a fine mist lies over the valley. The meadows are full of dewdrops and the world shimmers in pastel pink, lilac, emerald green and pearly white.

How Rosa Periwinkle learns serenity

Rosa Immergrün wakes up even before the sun sends its first rays over the mountains. She loves it when the Neflental is so quiet. But today she feels a little nervous. She has a lot to do. The Immergrüns want to collect the first cherry and violet blossoms for a festival. Rosa knows that everyone expects her to prepare everything perfectly. Suddenly she feels her heart beating faster.

She makes her way to the Emerald Ground. There, the grass grows as green as if it were made of precious stones. Flowers glow everywhere and fine cobwebs glisten in the dew. Little mythical creatures are already scurrying around her, still shy but curious. Rosa sees them, but she knows she has to stay calm now.

Little tricks to stay cool

Rosa remembers a simple trick when everything seems too much: she stops for a moment. She takes a deep breath and counts slowly to four. Then she breathes out again and counts slowly to four. With each breath, she feels the pressure easing. The colours around her become clearer.

Rosa Immergrün plucks a violet blossom with calm movements. She looks at the bright lilac and the soft pink of the petals. She feels the cool air, smells the dew and hears a bird singing in the distance. Everything seems lighter when she concentrates on this moment.

Everything is better together

Rosa soon realises that the other periwinkles are coming to help. They thank her for having thought of everything. Together they laugh and collect flowers. Some of them tell funny stories. Rosa no longer feels stressed. She realises that she doesn't have to do everything on her own.

Being mindful helps her today. She savours every moment in the emerald ground. She can feel the grass under her feet and the mild air on her face. The many colours around her make her happy and calm at the same time.

Mindfulness in everyday life

Blütenwacht in the Neflental valley shows Rosa Immergrün how important it is to take short breaks. Simply standing still, closing your eyes and taking a deep breath helps. If you can feel the beauty around you, you won't get excited so quickly.

At the end of the day, all the periwinkles sit together in the grass. They eat and celebrate. Everyone has a flower with them that they found particularly beautiful. Rosa is happy. She now knows that even on an exciting day, she can stay cool if she is careful and knows little tricks.

What do we learn from this?

It's the little things in life that help us stay calm. A deep breath, a break, a beautiful picture or a smile from a friend. Anyone can practise mindfulness, no matter how old they are. Just try it out for yourself - perhaps today, on your next walk or when you're feeling upset.
