Compassion makes you strong: doing good together in Neflental
It's a glorious high in the Neflental again. The sun shines golden and warm. A sapphire blue sky stretches across the valley. Emerald green meadows glow. The crystal lake sparkles as if someone had put a thousand dancing sparks of fire on it.
Today, Rosa Periwinkle is drawn to the bay of water lilies. There, the water ripples softly and shimmers. The large, round leaves of the water lilies sway gently in the wind. White blossoms stretch towards the light. Colourful fish swim beneath the leaves. Dragonflies hover above the water with glittering wings. It is peaceful.
Rosa Periwinkle realises that many people from the Neflental have come to the Crystal Lake. They wear colourful dresses in sunny yellow, coral red and emerald green. Today they are celebrating Glanzhoch, the great summer festival. On the shore, people sit around the campfire and savour sweet berries. Lanterns rise gently into the twilight and bathe everything in warm light.
A call for help at the peak
Suddenly Rosa Immergrün becomes aware. Two Flossians call for help. They wave excitedly and point towards the water. A small periwinkle is stranded at the edge of the water lily bay. He is holding on to a leaf. He doesn't dare return to the shore alone.
Rosa Periwinkle immediately understands that compassion is important now. She calls for support and runs to the water. Some revellers and Flossians also come and form a chain of helping hands. Together they hand the periwinkle a piece of wood. Rosa Periwinkle kindly encourages him not to be afraid. Together they pull him ashore.
As soon as the little periwinkle is safe, everyone claps. The little gnome laughs with relief and his face lights up with joy. Rosa Periwinkle kneels down to him and speaks reassuringly. She knows how important compassion is. Only together can they do good.
Being together instead of alone
The residents share their stories around the campfire. Many tell how they have already helped. A Buchian tells how he brought wood to the Bergsteins in winter. Flossians say that they provide shelter for animals during storms. Rosa Periwinkle listens and praises how brave and friendly everyone is.
A girl gives her a pebble painted coral red. It says: "With compassion, you are strong." Rosa Immergrün thanks her and explains: "Together we can make the Neflental a better place. Everyone who helps makes our valley stronger."
The lanterns continue to rise into the night sky. The light is reflected on the water of the water lily bay. Music plays softly. Rosa Periwinkle sits around the campfire with friends - old and new. They smile because they know that doing good feels right.
What do we learn from this?
Compassion makes you strong. You never have to do everything alone. Helping others in the Neflental helps you grow. Doing good together connects you. Together you can also accomplish great tasks. In the heart of the valley, it's not how big you are that counts, but how big your heart is.
