Story from the Neflental: Strong together with team spirit
On a cool autumn morning, everything in the Neflental awoke in a gentle veil of mist. The misty trail wound its way through the forest. The rust-red leaves stood out beautifully between the moss green and caramel, and the mist hung like fine threads between the old trees. Rosa Periwinkle was awake early and full of anticipation for the big fern meadow game. Today it was to be decided which tribe would be allowed to keep the travelling staff of the team spirit for a whole year.
Many children from all the peoples of the Neflental came together. The Evergreens, the Flossians, the Buchians and even two Bergsteins wanted to be there. The white elves also watched curiously from above. Everyone wanted to do their best, but there were already arguments during the first game. Some Flossians thought that they could swim the fastest anyway. Others thought that Buchians were stronger at rope pulling because they had roots like tendons.
Together through the fog line path
The first game began on the fog trail. The mist covered the ground like a carpet. "Only together can you find the exit!" shouted the fairy queen. Rosa Periwinkle thought about it for a moment because she knew that the mist could deceive everyone. But she didn't say anything and instead watched carefully as the others searched for the way out. The Flossians quickly ran ahead, but immediately disappeared into the thick grey. The tall Buchian, on the other hand, barely made it past the bushes. It soon became clear that strength and speed were of no use here.
Rosa Immergrün suggested holding hands so that nobody got lost. She reminded everyone that team spirit was sometimes more important than competition. So they all carefully felt their way forward, talking quietly together and listening to each other. Suddenly, a golden glimmer of light appeared on the ground - right at a small root. Rosa Periwinkle discovered that they were very close to the Shadow Gate.
The riddle at the Shadow Gate
The Shadow Gate loomed before them: the black basalt arch looked as if it had been placed there by a giant. It was still cool and grey, but then the fairy queen said: "Only if you go through the gate together will the secret path be revealed." A single golden ray of light fell through the gate and drew a glowing trail on the ground. Rosa Periwinkle stopped everyone and suggested that they touch the trail of light one by one. One Flossian wanted to walk through alone, but Rosa Periwinkle stopped him. "No one can do it alone. Fairness means everyone can join in," she said calmly.
Reaching the goal together
Now everyone joined hands and stepped through the arch as one. The trail of light grew and the fog slowly receded. They reached the finish line as a team and everyone cheered with joy. The fairy queen presented them with the travelling staff of the team spirit. She praised how fairly Rosa Periwinkle and the other group had worked together: "You have shown that only fairness and respect for every team member can lead to victory!"
What do we learn from this?
The big Fernwiesen game in Neflental showed everyone that fairness and team spirit can go a long way. Nobody can do everything alone. Everyone counts, and if everyone treats each other fairly, many individuals become a really strong group. If you look out for your friends, listen to others and stick together, you will get a lot further - even if the fog gets particularly thick or a puzzle gets really difficult.
