Acceptance in the Neflental - An adventure in the bay of water lilies
In the Neflental valley, the day began like a glowing painting during the glamour high. The sun shone golden in the sky and the light danced across the emerald-green meadows and sapphire-blue rivers. Rosa Periwinkle woke up early. The valley was in the height of its splendour, a special time of the year when all the inhabitants celebrated together, laughed and let up colourful lanterns on the banks of the crystal lake.
That morning, Rosa Periwinkle made her way to the water lily bay. There, rainbow fish glided under the large, floating leaves and dragonflies with bright wings chirped in the warm summer air. Rosa Periwinkle wanted to learn a new song for the summer festival here.
The courageous idea of otherness
Rosa Periwinkle met many other residents at Water Lily Bay. Most of them were practising traditional summer songs, but Rosa Periwinkle was humming a completely different tune. The melody was free and wild, with sounds that no one else in the valley knew. Some looked puzzled, others giggled quietly.
"You're funny," one of the water gnomes suddenly shouted. "Everyone here sings the same way they always do." Others also seemed surprised. Rosa Periwinkle paused for a moment, feeling surprised but not sad. Then Rosa Periwinkle continued to hum the unusual song a little louder.
Celebrate together, even if you are different
But as the song rang through the bay of water lilies, more and more curious people joined in. Even some revellers on the shore of the crystal lake listened. The melody was colourful, like the lanterns and the colours of the shining high. Suddenly, children began to dance with the dragonflies. The colourful fish swam faster and the water splashed in rainbow colours. Everyone laughed when they realised how beautiful the new song was.
"What is the name of this song?" someone from the group of Flossians called out. Rosa Immergrün replied kindly that it didn't have a name. It was simply created that way because the melodies sometimes sound different in the head and in the heart. An older Bergstein nodded and said: "That's exactly how the most beautiful things in life are created, when someone is brave enough to be different!"
Why being different makes the Neflental strong
Soon others also began to incorporate small changes into the songs. A Flossian sang particularly low, a Buchian woman beat funny rhythms on the roots of the trees. Some were shy at first, then more and more courageous. All of a sudden, the summer festival at Seerosenbucht became more colourful and cheerful than ever before.
Rosa Periwinkle smiled. They were all different, and that's what made the festival and the Neflental so special. The sun painted golden dots of light on the water and the colourful dresses. Everyone was allowed to be who they wanted to be and together they experienced the most beautiful glamorous high ever.
Being different makes everything brighter
In the evening, everyone sat around the campfire. The lanterns floated silently over the bay of water lilies. Rosa Immergrün played the new song once again and everyone joined in with their own voice. Some sang loudly, some softly, some low and some cheerfully off-key. But together the song sounded wonderfully unique.
The white fairy queen remarked: "Nothing is more beautiful than when we can all be ourselves." She thanked Rosa Immergrün for showing us today how powerful being different can be. A day full of laughter and new friendships came to an end in Neflental.
What do we learn from this?
In the Neflental and everywhere: those who are different bring new colours to life. No two songs sound the same, no two laughs are the same. It is only because we are different that being together is colourful and exciting. So dare to be yourself! It makes you special and life wonderful.
