Process-oriented AI is a term from the fields of artificial intelligence, automation and Industry 4.0. It describes intelligent systems that are used specifically to control, monitor and improve entire workflows - i.e. processes.
In contrast to conventional AI, which often only solves individual tasks, process-orientated AI looks at entire workflows in the company. It analyses how work steps follow each other, where there are delays or errors, and automatically suggests improvements. The aim is to increase efficiency, reduce costs and make processes more reliable.
An illustrative example: In a car factory, process-orientated AI takes control of the entire production process. It monitors how quickly individual parts are assembled by the robots, detects bottlenecks and can even make suggestions in real time on how to optimise the workflow. As a result, production runs more smoothly, fewer errors occur and even machine maintenance can be better planned.
Process-orientated AI is a crucial building block for companies that want to make their processes future-proof and competitive.
