Respect in Neflental: Pink evergreen and the magic of friendship

Spring is just beginning in the Neflental valley. The sun is shining gently through the trees and young plants are sprouting everywhere. The violet glade also blossoms at this time of year. Violet flowers are everywhere, crocuses glisten in the sun and give the clearing a beautiful colour palette: violet, sunny yellow, leaf green and pearl grey. In the centre stands an ancient statue, completely covered in moss. When the sun shines warmly, its rays hit the statue's eyes exactly. Then it looks as if it is coming to life.

On an early spring morning, Rosa Periwinkle runs happily across this violet glade. She can feel the soft moss springing under her feet. Colourful dragonflies fly above her and the chirping of birds fills the air. Suddenly she hears a soft cry. She stops and looks around because she wants to know who is unwell.

Lino, the little Flossian from the water lily bay, is sitting near the statue. Lino looks sadly at the glittering water pearls in his hand. Rosa Periwinkle sits down next to him. "What's wrong?" she asks cautiously. Lino answers quietly: "The others are laughing at my webbed feet. They think I'm weird and not like them."

The importance of respect in the Neflental

Rosa Periwinkle listens attentively to Lino. She understands how hurt he feels. Because many different creatures live in the Neflental: Bergsteins, Buchians, Flossians and Buchians. Everyone looks different and everyone can do something special. "In the Neflental," says Rosa Immergrün, "it doesn't matter what someone looks like. Everyone deserves respect. And everyone is important for our valley."

She thinks for a moment and then has an idea: "Come with us to Water Lily Bay! Let's show the others how wonderfully you can swim." So Rosa Periwinkle sets off with Lino. The water lily bay lies quietly on the crystal lake. Giant, round leaves float on the water. Delicate white flowers bloom among them. Colourful fish dart back and forth under the water. Dragonflies with glittering wings hover in the warm air. Everything seems peaceful and friendly.

Strong together through respect

The friends from Neflental are sitting on the shore of Water Lily Bay. Some of them don't know Lino very well yet. Rosa Periwinkle smiles at them all. "Everyone can do something special!" she shouts. "Lino can swim as fast as a fish. That deserves our applause!" Lino jumps into the water and shows off his best swimming tricks. The others are amazed and a few even clap. They have never seen before how fast someone can dart through the water lilies.

Rosa Periwinkle shows the others how much Lino knows. He knows all the hiding places of the colourful fish and he can even play with the dragonflies without scaring them. The friends realise how friendly and helpful Lino is. Because Rosa keeps telling Immergrün about it, they realise that they have done Lino wrong.

How to become popular through respect

In the evening, everyone sits together on the moss in the violet glade. The sun colours the clearing in a warm light. Everyone laughs, tells stories and enjoys the friendship. They now realise that respect means looking out for each other. Everyone is strong in their own way. Those who show respect win friends - because friendship is not made by looks, but by heart.

Rosa Immergrün is happy that everyone is celebrating together. And she thinks: "Those who respect others will never be alone. Everyone in Neflental now knows that respect makes living together strong."

What do we learn from this?

No matter what you look like or what you are particularly good at: If you show others respect and kindness, you will be recognised. You become strong because you can touch the hearts of others. And you become popular because your friends know that they can trust you. In Neflental and all over the world, strength grows with respect. You make friends when you approach others openly and honestly and let them be who they are.
