Stories from the Neflental valley: magically getting through the day with kindness
In the heart of the Neflen Valley, where magic and nature go hand in hand, Rosa Periwinkle experienced a very special story one day. It was spring, and the air was full of the scent of fresh grass and blossoming hawthorn bushes. The moon was shining brightly in the sky, because today there was to be a small festival in Moonlight Lane.
The start of the day in Neflental
Rosa Immergrün strolled along the nightingale path. The narrow path meandered between hawthorn bushes. The bushes were in full bloom and exuded a delicate, sweet fragrance. A colour palette of ivory, May green, sky blue and gold lay over everything. The nightingales sang so beautifully that even the trees seemed to be listening silently.
Suddenly, Rosa Periwinkle heard quiet sobbing. A little Flossian was sitting behind a hawthorn. His blue scarf was torn and his favourite acorn necklace lay in pieces on the ground. Rosa Periwinkle approached him in a friendly manner. Instead of making fun of him or walking on, Rosa Periwinkle knelt down, smiled and said: "Can I help?"
Small gestures of courtesy in the Neflental valley
The Flossian looked up. A warm feeling spread when Rosa Periwinkle handed him a clean cloth and helped to repair the chain. Together they collected small gold beads, which flashed like dots of sunlight on the Maygreen bushes. Soon the Flossian was smiling again and the sadness vanished like mist in the sunlight.
Because Rosa Periwinkle was so helpful, the Flossian politely thanked her. "You helped me when I was sad. Thank you for being there," he said kindly. Together they continued along the Nachtigallenstieg.
The magic of the moonlight alley
Later that day, they reached Moonlight Lane. It was a magical place. The narrow path was littered with silver flecks of light that danced on the forest floor from the full moon. On this special night, the inhabitants of Neflental celebrated a small festival. Rosa Periwinkle remembered the words of Granny Periwinkle: "Politeness works like a charm that opens hearts."
That's why Rosa Periwinkle greeted everyone in a friendly manner and helped to hang up the bright lanterns. Rosa Immergrün kept saying "Please" and "Thank you". These words sounded like music to the ears of the other guests. Everyone paused for a moment because they realised how nice it is when someone is polite to them.
Making a big impact with small gestures in Neflental
Rosa Periwinkle and her friends sat next to each other in a large circle around the campfire. Everyone was given a piece of golden moon cake. But when little Immergletscher arrived too late, there was no piece left for him. Rosa Periwinkle carefully cut her own piece through the centre and handed the periwinkle half. His face immediately lit up with a smile and he clapped his hands with joy.
This moment showed everyone: Politeness is not difficult. A kind word, a sincere "thank you" or a little help can make someone else's day. Just as Rosa Immergrün in Neflental was friendly and helpful on this spring day, you too can do something good every day.
What do we learn from this?
Through courtesy and small gestures, we can make the world around us a little brighter. Whether you want to perform a big or small miracle - a smile, a kind word or sharing with others often does more than you think. If you are polite and friendly in Neflental, others will treat you with courtesy. And that simply feels magical.
