Robot fleet management belongs to the fields of automation, industry and factory 4.0 as well as robots. It describes all measures and systems that companies use to control, monitor and coordinate several robots simultaneously.
This is not about individual machines, but about entire groups - so-called robot fleets - that work together, for example in large warehouses or factories. The aim is for the robots to complete tasks as efficiently as possible, avoid downtimes and not hinder each other.
An illustrative example: imagine a large warehouse in which dozens of autonomous transport robots bring parcels from A to B. Robot fleet management software is used to precisely control which robot takes which route, when it needs to be loaded and how collisions are avoided. In addition, failures can be recognised and replacements planned directly.
This system helps companies to save costs, organise processes more flexibly and react more quickly to changes. Robot fleet management therefore plays a central role in modern, automated production and logistics.
