Robotic Process Discovery is a term from the fields of automation, artificial intelligence and Industry and Factory 4.0. It describes a method that uses software and artificial intelligence to automatically recognise which work processes in the company are particularly suitable for automation by robots or software robots.
Instead of manually checking how invoices are processed, data archived or customer enquiries answered, for example, the Robotic Process Discovery software analyses daily digital processes. It collects data on how employees use programmes and which recurring tasks occur frequently. It then makes suggestions as to where the use of robotic software can make work more efficient, faster and more cost-effective.
A simple example: In an accounting department, the Robotic Process Discovery software automatically checks how invoice data is entered into the system. The software recognises that this step is always the same and suggests that this process be automated by a software robot. This leaves employees more time for more complex tasks, while routine work is completed more quickly.
Robotic Process Discovery thus helps companies to optimise their operating processes in a targeted manner and identify potential for automated solutions at an early stage.
