Scalable AI infrastructure (Glossary)

Scalable AI infrastructure is particularly at home in the areas of artificial intelligence, big data, smart data and digital transformation. It describes the technical basis that enables companies to use artificial intelligence (AI) flexibly and efficiently - regardless of whether a few or a large number of tasks need to be processed simultaneously.

A scalable AI infrastructure ensures that computing power, data storage and networks can be adapted to actual requirements at any time. It's like a motorway on which more or fewer lanes are opened depending on the volume of traffic. For example, a company can launch small AI applications for customer service - if the business grows or more data is processed, the infrastructure can simply "grow" with it without having to rebuild everything.

A practical example: an online shop uses AI for product recommendations. During a special sale, the number of visitors suddenly increases rapidly. With a scalable AI infrastructure, the online shop can automatically activate additional resources so that the recommendations continue to work at lightning speed - without interruption.
