Community spirit in the Neflental

There are many stories about cohesion in the Neflental valley. But this story takes place in the summer, when the glorious high sun bathes the valley in warm light. The sun paints the world a golden colour, the rivers sparkle like sapphires and the scent of honey and summer rain wafts through the Bernblütenhain. Every year, the inhabitants of Neflental celebrate a big festival at this time of year. But this time the festival faces a special challenge.

The Bernblütenhain is calling

In the early morning, many little feet walk to the Bernblütenhain. Golden yellow flowers glow everywhere and the sweet scent fills the air. Rosa Immergrün is also there because, like everyone else, she has been looking forward to the festival all year. The residents want to sing and dance together and light up lanterns by the lake. But when the Periwinkles, Buchians, Flossians and Bergsteins arrive, they discover something unusual.

Wild animals have devastated the square. There are broken branches everywhere, lanterns have been knocked over and many flowers have been trampled. The mood sinks like a stone in a crystal lake. Some children start to cry. Some adults say: "The festival is over, there's nothing more we can do here." But Rosa Periwinkle remains calm and looks around.

Working together

Because Rosa Immergrün starts a soft song, many people stop. The melody is reminiscent of the sparkling rivers and laughter around the campfire. Suddenly she calls out: "We can only do this together! Let's save the place!" Her courage is infectious.

The Buchians collect the lanterns and mend small tears with thin root threads. The Evergreens rearrange the flowers and put broken plants back in the ground. The Bergsteins build a small wall with stones as protection so that animals can no longer disturb them. The Flossians fetch clear water from the river to strengthen the plants in the Bernblütenhain.

A celebration in new colours

With each passing hour, the amber blossom grove glows more and more with beauty. As the sun casts golden and amber-coloured rays onto the meadows, the flowers shine even brighter. Sapphire blue is reflected in small lakes, the lanterns shimmer in coral red and emerald green. Rosa Periwinkle sits on the shore with her friends as they make lanterns and whisper softly to each other. Nobody looks grim, everyone laughs and helps each other.

In the evening, the residents dance around the campfire. Lanterns rise softly into the twilight sky and spread a gentle light. The fireflies dance to it. The party is more colourful and cheerful than ever before. Because everyone sticks together, the celebration is much more beautiful than any one person could ever have managed alone.

What do we learn from this?

Everyone in Neflental knows that a real sense of community makes you strong. If you stick together, even difficult things are easier. No problem is too big if everyone lends a hand. A celebration only becomes a real highlight when hearts and hands are united. Rosa Immergrün and her friends remind us that together we are stronger.
