Synergetic robotics falls into the categories of robotics, automation and industry and Factory 4.0. The term describes how robots and humans work more closely together to achieve better results than they could alone. "Synergetic" means that the interaction achieves more than the sum of the individual performances.
Unlike conventional robots, which work strictly separately from humans, synergetic robots ("cobots") support their human colleagues directly at the workplace. The aim is to utilise the strengths of both sides: Robots take on monotonous, difficult or dangerous tasks, while humans contribute their creativity and problem-solving skills.
An example from automotive production: while a robot tightens screws precisely, a human assembles complex components or checks the quality. Both constantly adapt to each other, communicate via sensors and intelligent software and work together to increase efficiency and safety.
Synergetic robotics thus enables more flexible and productive workplaces. Companies that focus on innovative and sustainable production methods in particular benefit from this close collaboration between man and machine.
