Following the imposition of US tariffs on steel and aluminium from the EU, the economic bloc intends to introduce retaliatory tariffs on products from America from 1 July 2018. The goods that the EU wants to impose punitive tariffs on include Bourbon whiskey. As our infographic shows, three of the most important importers of bourbon whiskey are located in the EU: Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany. According to the Distilled Spirits Council they imported this particular brand worth USD 127.6 in 2017. This corresponds to a 35.2 per cent share of total bourbon exports. Other whiskeys from the USA are exempt from the punitive measures.
