Ireland has made history with its vote to repeal the ban on abortion. The Yes campaign won with 66.4 per cent, with all but one constituency in the country voting in favour of repealing the Eighth Amendment. The result underlines the findings of a recent report by the Pew Research Centreaccording to which 66 per cent in Ireland are also in favour of abortion. As shown in the infographic below, which is based on the report's findings, Ireland's historic vote is in line with the rest of Western Europe in terms of support for abortion. In Northern Europe, support is higher at 94 and 92 per cent in Sweden and Denmark. In Portugal, the rejection rate is the highest at 34 per cent.
