Nach seinem Sieg bei den vorgezogenen Neuwahlen am Sonntag wird Recep Tayyip Erdogan eine zweite Amtszeit als Präsident der Türkei antreten. In einem sehr knappen Volksreferendum im vergangenen Jahr hatte Erdogan die Befugnisse des Präsidenten erweitert. Ab der neuen Amtszeit ist der Präsident Staats- und Regierungschef. Erdogan wurde 2003 zunächst Ministerpräsident und wechselte dann 2014 in die Rolle des Präsidenten. Wenn er seine zweite Amtszeit zu Ende bringt, ist Erdogan seit 20 Jahren an der Macht.
