On Wednesday, shares in Snapchat parent company Snap closed at 10.57 $, their lowest level since the company went public with much fanfare in March 2017. It may be a coincidence, but it is certainly fitting that Facebook on the same day that Snap shares hit a new low, announced that Facebook Stories, one of many features it has copied from Snapchat, now has 150 million daily active users. Since Snapchat entered the social media scene a few years ago, it's like a common thread: Whenever a Snapchat feature proved popular with its users, Facebook copied it. What started with camera filters and stickers was particularly blatant with Snapchat Stories, a feature that Facebook unabashedly copied for all of its social media platforms - and with great success. Both Instagram Stories and WhatsApp Status have long since overtaken Snapchat in terms of daily active users, and Facebook Stories are probably next in line.
