iROI Digital Leadership: Tasks for tomorrow's managers

4.7
(344)

Task 001

"The job of the digital leader is to provide the "fish" in the company with the best aquarium and the "monkey" with the best tree, so that everyone can work optimally in the position for which they are responsible." Sanjay Sauldie.

Task 002

"Today you decide to dedicate an entire day to yourself or your partnership - and completely do without anything digital (TV, mobile phone, etc.) - including electricity! Candles create a very special atmosphere!" Sanjay Sauldie.

Task 003

Start by writing down your top 10 time killers that could be eliminated with money. Then write down the 10 most important investment killers that eat up a lot of your money and are not really useful. With the saved investment killers you eliminate the time killers bit by bit! This will improve your quality of life in the long term!

Task 004

Digital leaders are aware of the importance of the Internet and are not impressed by digital snobs.

Task 005

Develop a contingency plan - in case a negative incident is discovered on the web!

  • How will you proceed in order to resolve this incident in the best possible way before the press addresses it and how will you ensure that a storm of indignation (=shitstorm) is not triggered on social media? How should you react?
  • Who is responsible for taking a quick look at the Facebook comments on your page at the weekend?
  • Who is notified, who makes decisions?
  • Think about how your company is vulnerable - what are the most common points of criticism from customers?
These points may well come up on social media - and must then be able to be dealt with.

Task 006

It is our job as digital leaders to meet customers wherever they might encounter our co-provider - and even to pick them up in places where our co-providers are not yet present.

Task 007

You want a video tip (or rather a cinema tip ;-)? No problem - get the film "Other people's money" and watch it!

Other people's money - The economic viewpoint of a corporate patriarch at a shareholder meeting (speech). Appeal to the social responsibility of shareholders (New England Wire and Cable). Gregory Peck as Andrew Jorgenson.

Other people's money: Larry the Liquidator (Danny DeVito) calculates the intrinsic value of a company / share. Fundamental analysis by a corporate raider / grasshopper.

Task 008

If you could change anything, what would be the three most important changes you would implement immediately? You should discuss these three changes with your team immediately and then implement them.

Task 009

What experience is important for my employees/team so that they can do their job optimally? How can you offer your team this experience? What things need to be done to ensure that the experience materialises quickly and reliably?

Task 010

Are you really already a digital leader, are you already on the way there? Or are you going in the wrong direction?

Task 011

Meet someone today and forget space and time... and accessibility! Believe me, no company in the world will go under because of this, but often the opposite, because without letting go you won't get anywhere.

Task 012

Who are your role models and what do you think makes them role models? Why are these people a role model for you - and why should others benefit from these role models?

Task 013

A digital leader does not trust blindly, but checks - just send an enquiry by e-mail via your website - e.g. using the form and/or direct contact - and see what happens!

Task 014

Develop a culture of communication, e.g. a brain trust once a month - that's enough! Please don't turn it into (analogue) meetings, which are endless, boring and take up valuable time! Who should take part in your individual brain trust?

Task 015

Open Innovation: Have a look at the following portals to see how others are doing it:

Task 016

Here you can find 3 parts of my presentation on Open Innovation, which I gave at Deutsche Telekom:

Task 017

Try the following experiment: Just get digital natives on board and listen to what they want, what they imagine and what opportunities they see - in your industry! I can help you with this!

Task 018

Digital leadership task: Simply answer the following questions now:

  • Would you take care of your sales representative on the Internet, your website?
  • Would you make sure that she is well?
  • Would you spend time with her once a week to motivate her more?
  • How valuable is such an employee for you?
  • Would you send them to the best rhetoric trainer?
  • How much time would it be worth for you to invest in this sales representative?

Task 019

Starting today, I ask you to reserve at least 1 hour per week for your sales representative on the Internet - your website. During this hour, it will be important to engage with her, talk to her and develop new ideas for her.

Task 020

What language style do we use when communicating? The language style will be very decisive in determining whether the target group will recognise or ignore your posts. This decision is therefore extremely important for all social media communication.

Task 021

Get to know the differences between Facebook, Twitter, XING, LinkedIn, Google Plus and Instagram! You will find a list of all the important portals that you should know as a digital leader in our appendix!

Task 022

Which employee (or you?) is responsible for creating and sending the information? What happens if this employee is on holiday or sick? Which multi-level responsibility system will then take effect?

Task 023

Who collects the questions from the discussions and uses them to develop the next products, their own technical contributions and discussions? The team must then react to all eventualities, both positive and negative. Creating fixed text modules is advisable, but using them without customising them is negligent!

Task 024

How could your product and service be made ready for "social web marketing"?

Task 025

Develop a separate strategy for each of these new target groups - utilise the various channels of communication, including traditional channels. Don't forget, social media marketing is an important part of your marketing strategy - but you must not neglect the old marketing channels!

Task 026

Develop a social media policy for your company that your employees can follow and adhere to. What rules would you like to adhere to so that your company is doing well - and what will you demand from your employees?

Task 027

Do you see how other companies are using the power of the social web to boldly market their own brand?

Task 028

Give your customers the attention they want by "liking" their posts or leaving a comment! They will honour you immensely!

Task 029

Not yet familiar with the German Air Guitar Championship Final? Take a look at the video. People spend time practising air guitar and why? To be a star for 30 seconds.

Task 030

Take a look here: over 18 million people have seen the video of this baby playing basketball - think about it: 18 million times just under 3 minutes equals over 50 million minutes wasted watching this video worldwide, but it works. How will you present your products and services in the future?

Task 031

An Apple iPhone 5C is unpacked here and over 3 million people are watching! Isn't it endlessly exciting what's happening here? But that's how the social media world works: Take a look here:

Task 032

What strategy could you use in your company to satisfy these three basic needs with your products? Think about what kind of video, what kind of image and what kind of text would describe your products and services in such an exciting way that you would share it with your friends?

Task 033

So that you don't have to do this every day, simply install the free 'google alert' service, which automatically notifies you when Google finds something new for selected key terms. Here is the link: https://www.google.de/alerts

Task 034

Is Google waging war against the SEO industry? Always inform yourself about the digital developments, especially with the market leaders such as Google, Amazon or eBay! Please watch the following video:

Task 035

What changes would you like to make in your current position? Talk to someone you trust about it!

Task 036

Watch the goals of the 2014 World Cup between Germany and Brazil again and pay close attention to how the passes are hit, especially directly in front of goal. Any other striker would probably have liked to have scored the goal himself, but might have missed it - it's the safe pass that makes the goal!
