One of the biggest criticisms of big data analysis is and remains data protection. However, this must and should also be questioned in the context of Industry 4.0, as in this context we are talking about data volumes that clearly exceed even the imagination of today's users. The concerns of some data protectionists about transparent customers can also be applied to companies in this context. However, the term "transparent company" is a misnomer in this context, as they use technical aids quite deliberately.
On the contrary, customers are often not even aware that data such as their postcode is being used for market research or other purposes. However, monitoring employees in the workplace could be more problematic. This is because in Industry 4.0, they are also a factor that can help or hinder ideal production. How the human factor should find its place in the technology of Industry 4.0 is therefore a question that only time can answer.
